It’s not us on video, say cops
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have denied allegations of detainee abuse allegedly shown in a video clip which has been posted on several blogs.
The clip purportedly shows a man being assaulted by several uniformed men in a room.
“After viewing the clip, it is clear that the uniforms do not belong to police personnel at all,” said the Bukit Aman police headquarters in a press statement yesterday.
Police said concrete steps were being taken to ensure that detainee abuse does not occur.
Teacher caught naked with boyfriend gets the sack
Compiled by SIRA HABIBU, LEE YUK PENG and A. RAMAN
A KINDERGARTEN teacher lost her job after she was caught naked with her boyfriend at the kindergarten for a second time, reported Harian Metro.
The kindergarten operator caught the couple sleeping naked on a mattress at the premises in Setapak at about 3am.
It was the second time the 30-something-year-old teacher was caught in the act.
The tabloid reported that the owner had merely advised the teacher when she was caught with the man, the first time.
When it happened again, the owner decided to sack the teacher. The owner lodged a police over the incident as a precaution.
The woman had also lodged a police report after being sacked by her employer.
> The tabloid also reported on an incident where a 40-year-old man was bashed up by villagers in Balok in Kuantan, for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter.
The villagers found out about the alleged incest after the victim confided to some friends about her ordeal which started in December.
The villagers surrounded the unemployed man’s house and beat him up. They then handed him over to the police for further action. Kuantan deputy OCPD Sup Zulkifli Taha said the man had been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigation.
The victim was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for a medical check up.
> Kosmo! highlighted attempts by certain people to revive the Qadiani teaching.
The teaching which originated from Pakistan had been declared deviant since early 1975 although complaints about it had started from as early as the 50s.
It is reported that the teaching has attracted over 200 million followers worldwide and is very strong financially, as well as having its own web TV.
The teaching is said to be spreading very fast in Selayang and local community leaders are worried as many of its practices were similar to Islam.

Assault video clip has bloggers believing it is Teoh
A VIDEO CLIP circulating widely in cyberspace has many bloggers claiming that it showed political aide Teoh Beng Hock being assaulted by some people, reported Sin Chew Daily yesterday.
The video alleged the person being assaulted was Teoh who was found dead at Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam.
People who knew Teoh said the person in the video clip was not him.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said there was too much information – both true and false – available on the Internet.
He urged the public not to be misled by information on the Internet.
Ismail also told Sin Chew that the police would investigate the video as some claimed that the suspect was being attacked by several policemen.
Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar urged the public to lodge a police report over the video clip and urged them not to speculate on information from the Internet.
The daily also reported Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong as saying that Teoh’s fiancee Soh Cher Wei could report to the SJKC Malayan in Batu Pahat to teach. She no longer needed to return to Kajang, said Dr Wee.
> China Press reported that speculation was rife that Bandar Tun Razak MCA chief Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho, who is on a long break, is retiring from politics.
Tan had on July 15 announced in his blog that he would be taking a three-month break, and matters related to the division would be handled by his deputy Chew Lian Keng.
Tan had also made a similar announcement at the division’s annual general meeting on June 20 but did not state his reason for doing so.
The daily also reported Chew as saying that he did not hear about Tan’s intention to retire from politics and pointed out that all the talk was speculation.
Anti-ISA protests: ‘VIPs’ to be hauled up
PETALING JAYA: Police will be calling in 11 political leaders or “VIPs” suspected of being behind the protests against the Internal Security Act (ISA) last Saturday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said on Tuesday.
More than 20,000 people gathered to protest the ISA on Saturday, but were dispersed by police deploying watercannons aned teargas.
Nearly 600 people arrested, including Subang Member of Parliament R. Sivarasa, although all but 30 were later released.
Sivarasa was freed on police bail on Monday, while 16 were charged at the by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with “illegal assembly with the intention to create a public disturbance” under Section 143 of the Penal Code.
The remaining 13 — including a 16-year-old boy — were charged under the Societies Act.
Their trial has been set for Sept 4.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has directed the police to investigate and take action against those responsible for organising and instigating the ISA rallies.
Meanwhile, Musa said police would recommend to the Attorney-General that parents who “exploited” their children by allowing them to participate in the rallies be charged as well.
Two other underaged boys, aged 16 and 13, were released over the weekend after a magistrate refused to allow them to be remanded.
Women, Children and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil had earlier said that 44 children under the age of 18 were detained on Saturday.
She said that those who intentionally exposed children to dangerous situations under the Child Act, 2001, risk being jailed 10 years or fined RM20,000 or both.
